Viola's Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Updated: Jun 17, 2019

Looks like 2017 will shine brighter than ever. It's off to a good start: life. You're breathing with the ability to see, read and access the internet. Not bad right? Another positive is our girl...our favorite snotty nosed actress, Viola Davis shined bright like a diamond!

Viola was honored with the FIRST Hollywood Star of 2017! The Fences actress is well deserving of the honor. On January 5, 2017, she became the 2,597th entertainer to make the career milestone. According to, Davis’s voice quivers when she reflects on her father, who died in 2006, and who, she says, would have thought “this is pretty fantastic.” Davis also reflected, somberly, on her upbringing in Central Falls, Rhode Island. She has only one photo of herself as a child in kindergarten, with an expression that’s not quite a smile and not quite a frown and instead, “just something,” she said. “But every time I look at the little girl, I always thought, ‘Oh, that’s a cute outfit but she was always hungry, she was always shy, she was always kind of in the background, but inside she had big dreams bursting,’” she said.

It took years for the industry to recognize her strength as an actor, her beauty as a leading lady. I recall watching an interview of Viola and she mentioned that producers, casting agents and execs would always send her roles to play the unattractive woman, the drug attic, but not the leading lady. Not a beautiful, complex and strong woman like the character Shonda Rhimes provided her with. The character Annalise on ABC's "How To Get Away With Murder" has made America fall in love with her. Her role in "Doubt" caught America's eye. And she continues to steal our heart as she appeared opposite of Denzel Washington in August Wilson's "Fences".

She is well deserving of this honor. Though some may argue, what about Taraji P. Henson...well, since the beginning they have only supported each other. I'm sure Taraji is cheering for her screaming "BlackGirlMagic as her movie "Hidden Figures" just opened world wide in all theatres. Taraji joins a list of greats who have yet been honored: Oprah, Brad Pitt, Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio and more. I'm sure she'll be just fine!

MESSAGE: Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
