This HBCU grad is is simply doing what she was taught to do...make a difference, build a legacy and help others along the way. This young entrepreneur...that's saved simply stole my heart.

Shami-Iyabo Mitchell is a first year medical student who has recently been accepted to 7 Medical School programs; UCLA/DREW PRIME, Duke, Emory, Case Western, Howard
University, UCLA- Westwood, and Meharry. She is passionate about alleviating healthcare disparities for the underserved and disadvantaged and hopes to continue to create more equitable spaces for marginalized communities within the field of medicine and beyond. After many internships and shadowing experiences at institutions like UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, and Yale School of Medicine, Ms. Mitchell decided to pursue a Masters of Science degree in Bioethics at Columbia University. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc and before starting school in the Fall of 2021 she is working with the New York Department of Health at a vaccination site located in Buffalo, NY.
As she takes on this beautiful journey that God has blessed her with, of course she experiences challenges. She discusses in the full interview how her faith kept her.
