Pastor Toure & Sarah Jakes Roberts Land NEW ABC SITCOM with Kerry Washington
Updated: Oct 26, 2019
Remember a year ago when Kerry Washington landed a deal to bring new ideas to ABC? Well, it's time and she brought in a Big Broadway Gun! Okay, that sounds a little dramatic, but I like it!
Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamlet/Nationwide Commercial Guy) and Kerry Washington (Scandal) have teamed up for a multi-camera preacher/pastor sitcom which has been given a pilot commitment at ABC.
Odom Jr. is expected to star in the untitled comedy, inspired by the lives of Touré Roberts and Sarah Jakes-Roberts, co-pastors at The Potter’s House at One LA. YES!!! AND...our wonderful pastors will also co-executive produce. That's how you make a power move!
The project centers on Omari (Odom Jr.) and Hope (Jenrette), joint pastors at a young, hip, diverse church in Los Angeles. Through their services, online streams and books, they are experts at uniting people across different races, genders, orientations and opinions. But when it comes to uniting the people in their blended family, they are way out of their comfort zone and as a result, the teachers often find themselves the pupils. Kelly Jenrette is set as the female lead opposite Leslie Odom Jr. in ABC’s untitled multi-camera family pastors comedy who together run a modern ministry and share an even more eclectic and chaotic home life with a combined four children.
